The Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana is an updated version of the West Bengal Samajik Suraksha Yojana that was launched in 2017.
It is a social security and welfare scheme by the West Bengal government for the unorganized workers.
The scheme was made completely free from 2020 and the beneficiaries will no longer have to pay the premium of ₹25/month.

Eligibility criteria for BM-SSY scheme in West Bengal
In order to be eligible for the West Bengal Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha (BM-SSY) Yojana,
- He/she must be a resident of West Bengal.
- He/she must be between the age of 18-60 years.
- His/her family income must not exceed Rs. 6500 per month. (The are no upper income limit for contruction workers and transport workers).
Who can apply for West Bengal BM-SSY scheme
Workers from the unorganized sectors can apply for the West Bengal Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana.
The workers can be from any sector like Hotel, Iron Factory, footwear, bakery, sawmill, etc.
Self-employed individuals like hawkers, fishermen, carpenters, cobblers, etc. can also apply for the scheme.
Premium Amount of Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana
After 2020, the beneficiaries will not have to pay any premium for the BM-SSY scheme.
Previously they had to pay Rs. 25 per month as their contribution to the scheme. The government paid its contribution of Rs. 30 per month.
But from now on, the government will bear the entire contribution of Rs. 55 per month towards the scheme on behalf of the beneficiary.
Benefits of Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana (BM SSY)
The beneficiaries under the Bina Mulya Samajik Suraksha Yojana can avail of the following benefits on the scheme,
- Provident fund (the contribution of government and beneficiery paid at 60 years of age)
- Health and family welfare (up to Rs. 60,000,)
- Death and disability cover (up to Rs. 2 lakhs)
- Education of children (scholarship)
